- NAIA
- Most full-scholarship money. ~50 programs as of 2026, growing about ten per year. Cumberlands, Keiser, Ottawa, Lyon, Reinhardt led the early wave.
- NJCAA
- Twelve programs. Partial scholarships common. Two-year pathway to NAIA or D2.
- NCAA D2
- Four programs in emerging-sport pilot. Limited scholarships during the three-year window typical to D2 emerging sports.
- NCAA D3
- Three programs. Academic-fit and financial-aid model. No athletic scholarships.
A realistic timeline
- 9th grade. Strong club plus varsity reps if your state is sanctioned. Build film.
- 10th grade. Attend one major showcase tournament. Spiked, Oakley, NFL FLAG.
- 11th grade. Reach out to college coaches after the July 1 contact window. Have a three-to-five-minute reel.
- 12th grade. Official visits. Sign in the National Signing Day windows (November / February).
