NJSIAA tournament regulations say members voted on May 4, 2026 to sanction girls flag football as an NJSIAA sport. The first sanctioned season is set for 2026-27, with practice beginning March 8, 2027 and competition allowed from March 15. The regulations divide the state tournament into Groups A and B and North and South sections. NJSIAA says the sport was provisional from 2022-23 and had grown to more than 140 member schools and about 4,200 girls in 2024-25; that is a historical figure, not a current enrollment count.
