Olympic qualification
Twelve Olympic places are available: six for women and six for men. The route is set, but most of the field is still open.
This page follows the approved system, not a power ranking. A country earning an Olympic place does not mean its final athlete roster has been selected. The canonical rules are in IFAF’s February 1 system announcement, with Q-Series logistics added in July.
01
The host country receives one place in the women’s tournament and one in the men’s tournament.
02
The highest-ranked eligible teams other than the United States take those places. Canada and Mexico earned the women’s places; Italy and Canada earned the men’s places.
03
The five continental allocations send two otherwise-unqualified teams per gender into a ten-team-per-gender Q-Series field. The continentals do not award a direct LA28 place.
04
The first Q-Series stage runs June 1–4, 2028, at Montreal Olympic Park. Two women’s places and two men’s places are awarded there.
05
The remaining eight teams continue to Camping World Stadium in Orlando on June 8–11, 2028. One final place in each tournament is awarded there.
